Getting started
Where do I start?
Put three things in your day, no more. If you are not sure how to break them down, tell the assistant about them, that is what it is for. Everything else can wait quietly in the capture inbox, with no date and no reproach.
How do I import my calendar and my reminders?
In the Scalyx settings, you allow access to your iPhone Calendar and Reminders. iOS asks you for permission, and nothing is read until you have given it. Your events then sit next to your tasks, inside your day, rather than making you type everything again.
You can withdraw that permission whenever you want, in the iOS Settings, on the Scalyx line.
What happens to a task I did not do?
It stays there, with no comment, no alert colour and no counter. You can move it to tomorrow or to another day in two gestures, or simply leave it where it is until you have the energy.
Does the timer stop if I lock my iPhone?
No, it keeps going. The time left shows on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. You can pause, add a minute, or come back into the app: the countdown is waiting for you where you left it.
Does the app work offline?
Your agenda, your capture inbox, your timer and the refuge work without a connection. Only the assistant needs one, because the reply is generated somewhere other than on your iPhone.
The assistant that plans
How does the assistant work?
You tell it what you have to do, out loud or by typing, in your own words. It breaks things into pieces small enough that the first one is not frightening, then it suggests a plan with times. A suggestion stays a suggestion: it enters your agenda when you tap “Add”.
Once your tasks are there, though, if you ask it to move your two o’clock slot or to rename something, it does that directly. At that point it really is the assistant changing your day, and you will see the change in your agenda.
Can it get things wrong?
Yes. It suggests a plausible breakdown and plausible times, not a truth. Read it over before you accept, and correct whatever does not sound like you. It knows neither how tired you are today nor what your body is asking for.
Do I get my conversations back?
Yes. Every conversation stays in the app and you can reopen it later, to pick up where the two of you stopped.
Can I talk to it instead of writing?
Yes. When writing takes too much energy, you tap the microphone and you speak. It is often the shortest path on the days when putting a sentence together is expensive.
Your data and your backup
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone first. It is then backed up to your private iCloud space, the one belonging to your Apple Account: your tasks, your notes, your moods. The detail of what is collected and why is on the Privacy page.
I changed iPhone, or reinstalled the app. Do I lose everything?
No, and there is nothing to set up: the backup goes through iCloud and it happens on its own, as long as you are signed in to the same Apple Account. Your tasks and your notes come back.
If nothing comes back, check in the iOS Settings that you are signed in to the same Apple Account and that iCloud Drive is on. If it still does not, write to us.
Does anyone read my mood journal?
No. What you write in the refuge stays between your iPhone and your private iCloud space. Nobody scores it, files it, or brings it up with you again.
How do I delete my data?
Item by item, you delete straight from the app: a task, a note, a journal entry.
To erase everything, delete the app, then its iCloud copy from the iOS Settings: your name at the very top, iCloud, Manage Account Storage, Scalyx, Delete Data. If you have any doubt, or if you would rather we made sure with you, write to support@scalyx.app.
Your subscription
Do I have to pay for Scalyx?
The download is free. In-app purchases exist, as the App Store listing says.
How do I manage or stop my subscription?
A subscription taken out on the App Store is managed at Apple, in the iOS Settings, not inside Scalyx. Open Settings, tap your name at the very top, then Subscriptions: you can see the renewal date there, and that is where you cancel, in one go.
Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Until then nothing changes for you, and there is nothing to do in the app.
I changed iPhone, how do I get my purchase back?
Sign in with the same Apple Account you used to buy, then use the restore purchases option offered in the app. If nothing comes back, write to us: we will look into it with you.
I would like a refund.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us: the request goes through reportaproblem.apple.com, with your Apple Account. If you get stuck somewhere, write to us and we will help you find the right page.
Devices, languages, notifications
Is Scalyx on Android?
No. Scalyx exists on iPhone only. The app leans on things that are very specific to iOS, such as the Dynamic Island, the Lock Screen and iCloud. We would rather do one thing well than two things badly, and we cannot promise anything else for now.
What about iPad or Mac?
Scalyx is designed, drawn and tested for the iPhone. That is the only device where we can promise you the experience described here.
Which languages?
English and French. The interface, the affirmations in the refuge and the assistant follow the language of your iPhone. There is no setting to hunt for in the app.
How do I turn notifications on or off?
iOS asks for permission the first time. After that, everything is set in the iOS Settings, on the Scalyx line. You can turn them all off: the app keeps working, it will just be quieter.
Write to us
A question, a bug, an idea, or just a word: write to support@scalyx.app. It is a small team, you will not land on a form.
For a technical problem, tell us your iPhone model, your iOS version and what you were doing just before it got stuck. It saves us a round trip, and it saves you time.
Scalyx is not a medical device. It is an organisation and wellbeing app, and it does not replace the advice or the support of a health professional. If things feel too heavy right now, talk to someone whose job that is.
You can also read again what the app does on the home page, or install it from the App Store.
